Whether a Registered Dietitian, nurse, or medical doctor, this module is designed to examine the ways that hidden hunger and food dignity are important frameworks to consider while providing quality care, and to provide tools for practitioners to apply what they’ve learned.

- Group or individual activity identifying poor health outcomes associated with food insecurity
- Group or individual activity to practice food insecurity screening in a medical setting and holding the difficult conversations after the initial screening
- The Hunger Vital Sign Screening Tool
- A Food Dignity® resource the Food Access Toolkit that shares conversation starters and resources for patients after a food insecurity screening, along with barriers faced by the nutritionally insecure
During the course, you will:
- Practice screening for food insecurity in clinical settings.
- Explore the links between food insecurity, social determinants of health, and health outcomes.
- Evaluate the role of food insecurity in cases of lead poisoning, diabetes mellitus, and colon cancer.
After the course, you will be able to:
- Understand the ways that food insecurity impacts health outcomes.
- Identify the ways that healthcare providers can promote Food Dignity®.
